A Reason To Smile: 5 Of The Happiest Places In The World!

The key to happiness has long been a topic of conversation, how do we get it and how do we keep it? It seems some places have it more figured out than others though, so we took a look into some of the happiest countries in the world, and what makes them so darn happy!

Coming in first is Norway! Considered one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, it’s not hard to see why everyone’s so happy. However it’s more than the beautiful landscapes that put it on our list. It seems that Norwegians are so ecstatic because of the emphasis on access to education. Every person is entitled to free tuition for University, supporting equality and everyone’s right to an education.

There seems to be plenty of reasons why Denmark pops up on this list. But the biggest factor is the emphasis on family first. Mothers AND fathers are given lengthy maternity and paternity leaves, fully paid, which is unheard of for most countries. Even after returning to work, picking up your children from school takes priority over staying until the end of the working day.

Costa Rica

Even though certain Central American countries are considered to be filled with conflict and civil unrest, Costa Rica is breaking the mold. They haven’t even had an army since 1949! The happiness of the country is directly related to their ecological footprint. Considered one of the greenest countries in the world, Costa Rica has vowed to be carbon neutral by the year 2021.

Iceland hasn’t only made it on the happiness list, it is also ranked as the most peaceful place in the world! It makes sense that with so much natural wonder at your doorstep, happiness couldn’t be too far away. But, one of the biggest factors of happiness for Icelanders seems to be the sense of community, and the shared happiness of your neighbour. It’s one for all, and all for one!

Where do we even start with Switzerland? It seems like they have it all! Great chocolate, high life expectancy, great healthcare, amazing scenery, multi-lingual inhabitants AND it’s one of the world’s richest countries. Honestly, the list goes on and on.
