Locations:

Jaipur is a jewel of Indian heritage. As part of the Golden Triangle of tourism in India, it is one of the most visited and photographed cities in the world. Famous sites like The Wind Palace, Amber Fort, City Palace and Jantar Mantar keep tourists glued to this astonishing city. Jaipur accommodation is ideal for participants attending the volunteer programs and for travelers who wish to enjoy the riches of Rajasthan.

Day by Day Itinerary:

Day 1 (Monday): Delhi Airport Pick-up

Upon your arrival at Delhi International Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to your Delhi accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you will have all your meals included. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 2 (Tuesday): Schedule's Briefing & Transfer to Agra (B/D)

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, you will receive a briefing about the schedule for your stay. After enjoying lunch (not included), you will begin your adventure with a transfer to the magical town of Agra, home of the world-famous Taj Mahal. Overnight in Agra.

Day 3 (Wednesday): Taj Mahal Visit, Transfer to Jaipur & Orientation (B/D)

Today you will have the breathtaking experience of seeing the majestic and marvellous Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983 for being "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage", and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is regarded by many as the best example of Mughal architecture and as the quintessential symbol of India's rich history. During this tour you will also visit the Red Fort and the local markets.

After the visit you will be transferred to the volunteer house in Jaipur. Enjoy free time to rest before receiving an orientation about India and the program covering the following points:

  • India & its culture
  • Accommodation facilities
  • How to do volunteer work
  • Project activities
  • Cultural responsibility
  • Personal safety & Code of Conduct
  • Introduction to the volunteering project

Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure as you get settled in to your new home for the next 2 weeks. Overnight in Jaipur.

Facilities at Volunteer Accommodation:

The Jaipur Volunteer House is located centrally in the city, with access to public transportation, tuk-tuks, and taxis. The facility has 12 air-conditioned rooms with two bunk beds, basic shelving for your belongings, and an attached bathroom with a shower and a western-style toilet. The house has one shared lock-box for passports and other small valuables. The house is outfitted with wi-fi, hot water, a washing machine and two computers for volunteer use. Please remember, however, that this is a developing country and these services may not always be functioning properly. Expect a basic facility and a shared room. Consider bringing your own locks for suitcases. Purified drinking water will be provided.

CAMP MANAGER: The camp manager acts as an administrator of the camp facility & is responsible for the safety and well-being of the participants.

CAMP SUPPORT STAFF: The support staff includes a chef, helper, room cleaner, drivers, etc. The support staff is committed to creating an enjoyable and comfortable stay for the participants.

Day 4 (Thursday): Volunteer Project & Dinner with a Local Family (B/L/D)

Today the program will start with an introductory visit of the volunteer project to start working and also to plan the volunteering activities for the coming days. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to visit and have dinner with a local host family, to learn about the local culture, and to taste its delicious traditional food.

Day 5 (Friday): Volunteer Project (B/L/D)

Today you will begin your volunteer work as planned in yesterday's introduction briefing.

Day 6 (Saturday): Camel Safari & Pushkar Camping Trip (B/D)

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Pushkar, one of Rajasthan's greatest gems. Legend says that Lord Brahma (the creator of the world), in a search for his abode on earth, performed the supremely spiritual 'Vedic Yagna' at Pushkar. It is now the site of the only Brahma Temple in the world. Blessed with cultural blends, it is the venue for the famous Pushkar Fair, with people coming from all over Asia to buy and sell breeds of cattle from all across the world.

Upon arrival in Pushkar you will take on another form of travel, ancient and far more suited to the desert: camels! Begin a camel safari atop the “ship of the desert,” going through sandy ravines and local villages where we can absorb the harsh-yet-colourful landscape of the Thar Desert. The safari concludes in a tent camp, where after sunset you can enjoy a clear view of the star‐lit night sky while having a delicious dinner. Overnight in tents.

* In case of rain you will spend the night in a Guesthouse in Pushkar.

Day 7 (Sunday): Pushkar City Tour & Return to Jaipur (B/D)

After breakfast you will return to the town of Pushkar to begin a guided tour of this holy town. Pushkar has an ancient legacy of timeless architectural heritage and radiates an ambience of peace and spirituality. There are 52 bathing Ghats, linked to the lunar calendar, which enclose the lake. Each Ghat has its own miraculous qualities and powers of healing, and this city of temples has over 500 temples built over different eras with varied architectural styles. Next we will visit the rose garden of Rajasthan ‐ the essence of the famous Pushkar rose is exported all over the world. The tour would conclude by a visit of Lord Brahma' temple before catching a transfer back to your Jaipur volunteer house for overnight.

Days 8 to 12 (Monday to Friday): Volunteer Project (5B/5L/5D)

Volunteer as per the indicated daily schedule. During the week you will also participate in the following cultural workshops (one-time activity):

  • Henna painting session with sari dressing workshop
