Brazil. Brazil. Brazil. The word evokes thoughts of smiling faces having a blast at carnival, moving their bodies wildly to the sounds of Samba music, coastlines of world class beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see, Amazon tribes living in the steamy jungle, the rushing Iguazu River crashing over Iguazu Falls, gourmet cuisine served up in the most elegant Sao Paulo restaurants, a beautiful mixture of voluptuous African, sensual Mestizo and fair-skinned European descendants.  This is only an introduction to the diverse, exciting and stimulating country of Brazil.  

In South America, Brazil sticks out like a sore thumb, not only because it’s the world’s 5th largest country, but because it speaks Portuguese instead of Spanish. Part of the Portuguese Empire for more than 300 years, Brazil gained independence in 1822. Today it’s the 6th largest economy, the future host of the 2014 World Cup Games and the 2016 Olympics.  Need we say anymore?  Brazil is booming, which is great for them and not so great for travellers on a budget.  

It’s still a place you cannot miss seeing at least once in your life (because once you get a taste of Brazil you’ll always have the desire to come back).  Brazil has got it all, from coastal colonial towns, to a wealth of virgin beaches, more islands than you could ever dream of, Amazon jungle, steamy wetlands, rivers, lakes, modern metropolises, you name it they’ve got it.  So its all up to you.
